Live View can be one of the most engaging features of Plickers. Hearing your entire class yell happily when every one gets the question correct is really energizing. The feedback loop helps everyone—students and teachers—stay motivated, and their excitement in their own learning and their team success is contagious.
Despite the positive impact Plickers and other wonderful edtech tools can have in the classroom, we’d be the first to admit it’s not always quite so glamorous. As teachers, we need to have a back-up plan in case the network’s down, the laptops aren’t charged, the login's not working. We want to have faith that our best-laid plans will work out, but sometimes we just don’t know what’s happening with the technology we’re relying on, and that’s not a good feeling.
With this in mind, Team Plickers is updating the iOS and Android apps to add a Live View status indicator that will clearly tell you when your questions and results sync to Live View, so you can get back to teaching with confidence.
Soon, you'll be able to update your Plickers app to version 3.2 on iOS or version 2.2 on Android for a much improved Live View experience. We hope the new indicators will help teachers feel confident about knowing which views will trigger the Live View to change, whether the connection and syncing is happening. We've also updated our help page with clear troubleshooting tips for Live View.
What do you think? Do you think this new status indicator will help you as you’re using Plickers Live View with your class?
P.S. Stay tuned for more exciting updates over the next few days on a big feature for the website! ;)
